Memorial Day

Spencer's cousin Jacob and his wife Lexi came over for Memorial Day. They have an 8 month old boy(Dom). Tarren was sooooo excited to see another baby. It was really cute to see them play together. They were following each other around the house.

Tarren hasn't quite gotten the fact that he needs to share his toys. He wasn't completely greedy, but there were a couple of times he decided he liked the toy that Dom had instead of the one he had.

We took them outside to ride in the wagon. They seemed to like it for the most part until Tarren thought he could ride without holding on to the side. He eventually just laid down.

After they rode in the wagon, we got the water hose out and a small pool.

Tarren was a little thirsty and tried to drink water out of the hose.

We had lots of fun and look forward to the next time they come to visit! On another note, I can't believe how fast Tarren is growing up. He is officially walking, but he still drops and decides to crawl a lot. He is able to almost reach the lock on the door handle and I got a picture of it before I told him not to touch it. I just can't believe how FAST they grow!

Tarren's 1st Birthday

Tarren turned 1 on Friday April 24th. We decided to have his party on Saturday. We went to the same park that we used to have my birthday partys at when I was a kid. I decided to get the main cake made at Wal-mart and they did a really good job. For Tarren's birthday cake, I made him a small Elmo. It turned out pretty good.

Heath, Spencer's brother, came down Friday night and brought his big smoker. He smoked chicken, pork and brisket. They were up all night cooking it. It was sooooo good!!! We started setting up for the party and had everything almost ready when a family showed up with their grill. They came and asked us if we rented this spot. We told them no. We never rented it growing up. They said they had to pay $200 for this spot. We were floored. I told them we would move into the grass. They said their party didn't start until 5:30 and that we were fine. I think the reason they had to pay was because they wanted to use the inside of the facility. We were just using the covered outside part. We ate lots of food, talked and then we were ready for the cake. Tarren was a little grumpy because he did not get a good nap all day. He was not to keen about sticking his hand in the cake and eating it. He did touch it with one hand, but he did not want to get anything else dirty. Spencer tried to hlep him by putting his other hand in it. He did not like that at all. We decided half way through that we should take his clothes off. Yeah...that wasn't the best idea. Spencer had icing all over him and then when I tried to clean Tarren off I got my share of icing.

We went and played on the playground for a little bit and then we started to open up presents. Tarren got some pretty cool toys. He got a little bit of everything...clothes, toys, books and even a gift card. He did get a really cool riding toy.

It turned out to be a beautiful day and we had a fantastic party!! I think Tarren enjoyed himself. He expressed himself with a kiss for his daddy. :)

Easter

We went down to Pearland to celebrate Easter. We decided to do it on Saturday because it was suppose to rain on Sunday. We had a fantastic dinner of brisket, mashed potatoes, bread, corn and lots of yummy deserts. After dinner, the dads and older kids went out to hide the easter eggs and baskets. The tradition is to hide the baskets and they can't pick up any eggs until they find their baskets. I hid Spencer's basket up in a tree.

Tarren got his basket right in front because he is still little. He loved his basket and everything in it. He would pull out one thing and play with it then pull out the next. He only picked up one egg and then put it in his mouth.

After the egg hunt is done, they bring out the confetti eggs. It is fun to try and avoid being hit. No one is immune...not even Tarren. The confetti gets everywhere. It goes down your pants and sometimes you won't find it till hours later. I found some hiding in Tarren's diaper later that night. It is fun to smash the eggs, but it is a pain trying to get all of it out of your clothes.

On Monday, Spencer put a tire swing up in the tree in our front yard. It is fun to swing in. You can actually go pretty high. The first time Spencer pushed me I went so high my legs got scraped up in the tree branches. Spencer trimmed the tree so that won't happen any more. Tarren loves to swing in the tire swing.

Tarren is starting to walk a little better with help. He is using his walking wagon more. He is also standing up on his own without holding on to things. It is only for like 15 seconds, but it is something.

YEA FOR CLAPPING!!!

I had to post this little story real quick. So, yesterday at church before Tarren got sick all over me, he was alseep on my chest and he sat up with his eyes still closed clapped four times and layed back down. He never even woke up. Yes, my son sleep claps. Unfortunately for him, I think he is doomed when it comes to sleep walking/talking. Spencer slept walked as a child and I slept walked and talked as a child. I still do talk in my sleep according to Spencer. So...it should be a fun time for us. I do remember hearing funny stories of things I did in my sleep and I wish I could see them. I guess here is my opportunity. Yea for sleep walkers!!!

Spring Break 09 cont...

On thursday, we went to the zoo.

We went to the petting zoo. Tarren would just pet the ears of the goats.

We saw the piranhas. They had this neat tunnel you can go in.

On Saturday morning, we got up and went down to the park to go swimming. It was Tarren's first time in the water and I think he loved it. He enjoyed splashing around.

After that, we went to the rodeo. We sat on the tractors, went to the petting zoo, went to the farmer's market, got to see a live birth of a calf and we saw Brooks & Dunn that night. It was a blast. Oh and we got to have our fried twinkies/milky ways. Tarren was sooo good during the whole thing. He clapped along with the music and even tried to dance. It was cute. He is really getting good at the clapping thing. He loves to do it all of the time. On the way home, we were listening to a cd I bought that has a bunch of kid songs on it and Tarren was clapping along with the Bingo song. It was sooo cute. This whole week was a lot of fun and I am sad to see it end. I will be excited for when the summer comes. We can have more fun and exciting trips.

Spring Break 09

I was going to wait until the end of the week to post, but I figured the post would be way too long and I would probably leave out a whole bunch. So, I am posting a little at a time. Yesterday was the first day of Spring Break and it was nice to just relax at home. It was just Tarren and I for the most part. Spencer had to work. We went to the DPS to change the address on my drivers license and yes it has been two years since we moved to our house and I haven't changed it. I just haven't made the time to get it done. Unfortunately for me, I have a class B (so I can drive a bus) and I can't just change my address over the internet. So, we were there for about an hour. It wasn't too bad. The best part about it was that I didn't do my hair...I just bunned it and they had me take a new picture. So, that should be a lovely turnout of a picture and I get to keep it for 3 more years. After that, we went home and took a small nap. I LOVE naps!

I went for a jog with Tarren to the park. After I finished my run, I went inside and got paperwork so that we can go swimming on Wednesday. It should be pretty new and exciting. We went to the playground after that and he LOVED it. We tried out the swing first and I had to literally unpry his fingers to get him out. We probably would still be swinging if he had his way.

We went to the purple bouncy monster next. We pretty much got kicked off by a bunch of other kids. They were hovering and kept asking when we were going to be done. So, I just let him bounce a little and then left. Yes...I was bullied by a bunch of 4 &5 yr olds.

Our next stop was the slide. This wasn't as exciting to Tarren as I thought it would be. He seemed a little bored.

Last of all, we played in one of the tunnels. He wasn't quite sure what to do.

Today we went to the Blue Bell Factory. I have never been and this trip was probably more for me than it was for Tarren, but I think he really enjoyed it. Spencer, his mom, his brother, Tarren and I all hopped in the car around 9:30 this morning. We went up to Brenham. When we got there, we were really surprised at how long the line was. It weaved out into the parking lot. We got in line and were told that it was a good hour and half before we weould make it in. So, we stood in line. As we were in line, I decided to take a picture of Tarren and I actually caught him in the action of his new thing...putting his finger up his nose.

We finally made our way into the factory and it was really neat to see how everything works. After we came out, we ate our icecream...

played with the bucket and rode the cow...

we played frisbee and played on the train...

And last of all on our way out, we played with the bluebonnets

It was a very fun and exciting day for all of us. We left with a tummy full of icecream, lots of pictures and a t-shirt for all of us.

Another month...

So much has happened in the last month and I have not posted. So...here it is. At the beginning of the month, Spencer threw me a birthday party. It was great to see all of the fam. Spencer got me a beautiful ring with my birthstone in the middle.

He also got me a gift certificate to a spa. I am waiting to use that until I reach my workout goal. I would rather not have someone give me a massage and get to feel all of my mushy fat. I can't wait to use it though and I am hoping it will be by April. He also got me a fantastic pair of new shoes. LOVE THEM!! They go with almost everything!

So my birthday was a blast! I got everything I could ask for and more. Our next exciting day was Valentines Day. Spencer surprised me at work with a beautiful flower arrangement. The best part about the flowers are that they are made of wood. I can keep them FOREVER!!! :) I keep meaning to take a picture but I keep forgetting my camera. On Valentines Day, we stayed home and Spencer cooked a fantastic dinner of steaks, potatoes and corn. YUMMY!!! He got me a pair of earrings to match my ring.

At 91/2 months, Tarren finally crawled. He has gotten much better since the beginning and much faster. He will follow you around like a little puppy. It is cute.

It is amazing how fast they grow and develop. This month has been a great month! I am excited for March to come. Spring break is right around the corner! Yeah! We are hoping to go and do a few fun things during that week of vacation. We will see. :) I am sure there will be plenty of pictures to post. Spencer is taking Tarren on a Father/Son campout in a couple of weeks and that should be interesting. Tarren loves being outside, so I am sure they will have a blast. I haven't quite decided what I will do while they are gone. I have two weeks to think about it, but I am sure I will come up with something to preoccupy me. I will miss my two men!
