Spring Break 2010

It was a beautiful day yesterday, so we decided to go to Discovery Green. Tarren wouldn't get in the water they have there because it was super cold. He finally did go take a look when the sprays weren't as big. He really like playing on the slide and running up and down the hills. It was nice to get out of the house and let him use up some of that energy.

Where did the water go?
I'll just wait until it comes back.

Tarren wore himself out and fell asleep in the car. We were going to go to the Children's Museum, but it was way too busy for us and Tarren was asleep. So, we called it a day and headed home.

Houston Rodeo 2010

Every year we go to the rodeo. Usually, I just choose someone that has a song out that I really like. This year, I hadn't really heard a new song that I really wanted to hear so I just chose a person that was on a Saturday. Saturdays are the best days for us because we don't have to worry about going to work the next morning. This year the person we went to see was Blake Shelton. I found some really really good tickets for cheap on stubhub and so I was sold. We got the front row action seats. These seats are so close that when the horses were racing by some of their hair landed on us. It was only a couple of pieces so it wasn't really gross. The other thing about these seats is that you get FREE food and drinks. It was fantastic! They had sodas, waters, chips, ice cream, candy and then a hot food line where you could get nachos and hotdogs. We had already eaten at Pappas BBQ before we got their so we didn't eat anything but the junk food. The bad thing was I was stuffed, but because the food was FREE I just kept eating the candy and ice cream. I know...disgusting. Needless to say, I feel a little sick this morning, but it was worth it! We really enjoyed those seats and I think those will be our ideal seats if we can find them cheap.

We were right by the gate on the floor. Tarren really liked that.
Every year, I have always been super excited get the fried twinkies. However, this year I didn't really feel like having greasy food and I remember last year walking past a cheesecake on a stick stand. So, that is what I decided to have. It is a slice of cheesecake on a stick that is dipped in chocolate. It is my new FAVORITE snack at the rodeo! I will have to say I will be getting it next year when we go. YUMMY!!

After I finished, Spencer liked the stick it was on. It looks like a giant toothpick.

We took Tarren to the Fun on the Farm. He did a good job of collecting all of this stuff.

At the end of the course, they give the kids dollars to turn in all of their stuff. They can then take the dollar and turn it in for a snack. Tarren chose a juice box.

We tried to get him to take his picture in one of those standing face things, but it proved to be more difficult than we thought. He put his head through the hole and got it stuck.

We went to the petting zoo. Tarren tried to kiss every animal in there. It was cute, but gross at the same time.

At the end, Spencer had him wash his hands and he loved the hand sanitizer machine so much he didn't want to stop washing his hands.

Spencer won Tarren a ball and he held onto it the rest of the night.

Tarren LOVED running down a little hill. He kept going up and down. Spencer taught him to roll down it and it was soooo funny.

Tarren took his picture with the rodeo clowns when they came by. We had a hard time getting him to look at us. He just kept staring at the clowns.
We had a lot of fun and look forward to next year!

Blogging problems...

Does anyone know how to fix the picture in my header? It doesn't matter which picture I use they are all too big. I have the little box checked for resizing too. HELP!

Finally a warm day...

Yesterday was finally a nice day. We decided to take advantage of it and go outside with Tarren. We have a couple of tricycles that we keep outside that have been rained on quite a bit, but they still seem to do the job. Tarren has not mastered pedaling yet, but he is getting the idea. His daddy had to help him figure it out.

Tarren got to swing on the tire swing with his daddy.

Then we just enjoyed the day! Tarren picked some flowers and gave to me...it was very sweet!

We are looking forward to more days like this, spring break and the rodeo! It should be a fun week ahead!

Silly things from a little boy

Tarren has been doing and saying a lot of things lately that are just so funny. He has recently realized that I have a baby in my tummy and every time he sees it he will come up and pat my belly and say baby. Well, a couple of weeks ago I was laying on my side and he came up and patted me on my butt and said, "baby". Yeah...so I guess I need to start exercising more because if my butt is starting to look like my stomach, that could be a scary thing!

He is starting to try and say more and more words. It is so cute because sometimes the way they come out are funny. For example, he will see your belly button and call it a billy bun. I love it! He does his best to copy us when we are singing the ABCs. He is also starting to recognize when he has pooped. He will tell us pooh pooh. This is good because maybe we will start leaning toward being potty trained.

He goes to my basketball games and the girls love him! They will take him out in the hall and play with him. He enjoys all of the attention he gets from all of those girls!

He is such a good boy about helping out. He will throw away his dirty diapers and trash. He also takes his clothes to his hamper. However, he has been confused a time or two and his diaper ended up in the hamper and his clothes in the trash. I love how loving he his and how he likes to cuddle. We can cuddle in bed for hours at night and play little games. He loves to play a kissing game and will come back for more and more. He is such a sweet spirit and has such a great personality! I look forward to seeing him grow more and more and I know he will be a fantastic big brother!

And then there were four of us....

We just made the announcement that we are having our 2nd baby. I am 19 wks pregnant and we will find out in a week and a half what we are having. We did not tell anyone, not even our families until recently. The reason we did this is because we wanted to do an experiment. We wanted to see how long it would take people to ask and when they did ask if we could fool them into thinking I was just eating too much and not working out. Well, once I started to get a little lumpy the looks started. The kids at school were even whispering amongst themselves, but no one would ask me. As the weeks went by, I got bigger and bigger. Finally people starting asking, but they weren't asking me. They asked Spencer when I wasn't there. He did get a few people with the whole gaining weight and they back pedaled real fast on the inquiry. He told them before the conversation was over that I was pregnant, but it was funny to see their reactions when they thought they had made a false statement about me being pregnant. The kids at school have gotten braver and finally one 6th grader asked. When she did ask, she said it so fast that all I caught was pregnant at the end. I didn't have the heart to tease them so I told them yes. I had one other student ask if she could ask me a question without getting in trouble and I told her yes and she asked if I was pregnant. Once those two girls knew, it seemed like every student knew. So, the result of the experiment is that people will not ask you if you are pregnant until it is really obvious or they have confirmed it with someone else. Too many people have told me they have asked someone only to have them say they weren't. So, they are more careful now about asking.

Anyways, we are really excited for this baby and are nervous at the same time. We are so use to only having to deal with one child. We tried to plan this pregnancy a little better and make sure that I am out for the summer from school. The baby is due June 14th and school gets out June 5th. We figure if the baby comes two weeks early like Tarren did, it will still put us on the last week of school. So, either way it isn't bad. I had a c-section with Tarren and I am hoping to have a vbac with this one. We will see.

That is our exciting news for now!

Halloween and Christmas

Once again time has slipped by without me really realizing it. The last time I posted it wasn't Halloween yet. Well, Halloween has come and gone already. We went as Peterpan, Tinkerbell and a lost boy for Halloween. We ended up being too tired to go trick or treating but we did go to the ward Trunk or Treat.

Every year for Christmas, Spencer's family gets together and makes tamales. I finally decided to take pictures of it this year and I didn't do a very good job of it, but I did get some.

I didn't think to take a picture of the tamale actually coming out of the machine. It basically is a machine that you put meat in and maza in and then when you crank it the tamale comes out. We then took the tamale and rolled it in the husk and then you cook them in a pan. They were quite yummy!!
On Christmas day, we opened up presents and then we went down to Pearland to spend the day with Spencer's family. Tarren actually enjoyed opening the presents. We only wrapped up Tarren's presents this year. Spencer and I got our presents early this year. He got an xbox and lots and lots of games. My present was a beautiful necklace and new Nike sunglasses. I haven't had any glasses for this year to wear at work and so they are perfect!
My co-worker's 6yr old son gave this chair to Tarren because he didn't use it anymore. Tarren LOVES it! He wanted to sit in the chair to open up his presents.
Needless to say, we had a garage sale the day after Christmas to make room for the new toys.
The funny thing is I always told myself I wasn't going to spend money on toys because kids at this age are happy playing with boxes and sticks. I gave up on that idea though when I first had Tarren. It is so much fun to buy stuff for him and eventually he does get bored with the box and then he has his toy to play with. Plus I like to play with him when he plays with his toys:)
We are looking forward to the New Year and are excited for what it will bring. We are excited to see the stages that Tarren will go through. He is starting to copycat what we say now which is funny and scary! He is wanting to become more independent with what he does and loves to follow us around. One of his favorite things to do is shower or should I say play in the water. He also LOVES to go outside even if it is cold! We bought him a potty chair and are hoping that he will pick up on it soon. :) He will be 2 in about 4 months and he is showing the signs of it aka throwing fits. We will see what the New Year brings....
